About the work
IN THE PERMANENT COLLECTION AT THE “ETRUSCAN NATIONAL MUSEUM OF VILLA GIULIA” in Rome
It is not known exactly what it was used for, but the dodecahedron was found in excavations in the Veneto, Germany and France. The dating is between the dominion of the Etruscan and the Roman culture, so much so that it is mentioned both as “Roman dodecahedron” and “Etruscan dodecahedron”. Perhaps it was used as a ballistic or agrarian calculation tool, the fact is that this Platonic solid, perfect in the invoices, travels through time. And it comes to us in the most technological, cold sterile form of a metallic Dodecahedron, through the traveler who assumes the Ionic expression of the Etruscan sculptures (particular reference to the Apollo of Vejo), but with modern physicality and pictorial technique.
And in its flight through time, it joins the distant past (above) to the near future, handing us an object that is perfect in material and features, as if to invite us to explore the future.
The PVC support, the study of the subject with 3D software and the painting execution with airbrush acrylic is an invitation to look to the future, always, however, with a look at the past, which is the source of our present and future.
